The scope of this project was a three level addition, adding 416 additional stalls onto an existing four level, cast in place, post-tensioned, concrete parking structure, as the first phase of a greater casino expansion. The vertical expansion of the garage required substantial structural foundation enhancement and improvements to vertical circulation. This provided an opportunity to update the elevators to MREL systems within the existing elevator hoistway footprint. The existing design language was to be retained and adapted to the new, taller form.
This was my first Project Management assignment at IPD and an introduction to the responsibilities of Architect of Record in a Design/Build project delivery environment. It was amazing to see the advancements and efficiencies in the Construction Administration phase that web based solutions like Procore offered to workflow. Construction documents were produced in AutoCAD and coordinated with the project Engineers during design, and with subcontractors during the Construction Administration phase to ensure an integrated design.
